The term “sky surfer” refers to an extreme athlete who surfs through the air on a special board. In fact, it is nothing more than a skydiving discipline. The work combines skysurfing with windsurfing, which looks more “elegant” and at the same time more “traditional”.  The fact that a remote-controlled model airplane bears the name ‘Sky Surfer’ is pure coincidence …

The photograph is of the sky over Callantsoog, North Holland, and the work is therefore part of the ‘Playing around with Callantsoog skies’ series. The SKY series explores the theme of “SKY” on three levels: visual, written, and sound.
