Darkness slowly creeps in, obscuring the evening glow of the sky, and the sound of silence spreads across the landscape, just as in the Simon & Garfunkel song of the same name. Moments like these invite reflection, for even our thoughts mirror the sound of silence.

The photograph shows the sky over Callantsoog, North Holland, and is thus part of the series “Playing around with Callantsoog skies.” The SKY series explores the theme of “SKY” on three levels: visually, in writing, and aurally.
