A Wallmart of Lost Chances

»Review«

A life where Pink, even as a young boy, has built what he sees as an unchangeable wall around his mental world; where Pink and his classmates rise up against the cynical, cold-hearted, and pedagogically unfit teachers; and finally, the eruption of pent-up wounds and humiliations—culminating in Pink’s decision to complete the wall for his final isolation. Looking back, Pink sees all other people as stones in the wall (“all in all you were just another brick in the wall”). Thus Pink’s protective barrier transforms into a prison with no escape.

The starting point for this work is Pink Floyd’s song trilogy “Another Brick in the Wall” from their musically and thematically outstanding 1979 album “The Wall.” “A Wallmart of Lost Chances” attempts to retell the story a little differently.
