Finalization of the February Update—With the adjustments and additions completed to date, this extensive update is now finished. While the focus of the February updates was on making purely image-based galleries available as a subsection of the portfolio and on redesigning the documents area, the second phase of the update has brought the Claude critiques into a largely unified typographic format — they are now available as PDF documents.

These PDF documents, typically two to three pages in length, replace the previous web pages and simultaneously serve as the content for the new menu item “Catalog of works.” This index presents a listing of work titles covering the now 140 exhibited pieces, arranged in chronological order by date of creation.

This renders the collected volume of art critiques announced on January 30 obsolete, and the first volume — containing 50 critiques and already published on the main English-language website — has been removed from the site.

February has been — and continues to be — all about various cleanup and adjustment work on the website. These efforts are focused on the English-language main site first; work on the German-language parallel site is up next. Among the changes, a “Start” entry has been added to the navigation bar, providing a brief introduction to the website. The “Portfolio” menu has also gained a new submenu item, “Pure Image Libraries,” which lets visitors browse works sorted by category without any textual context, placing the focus entirely on the image itself. The term “library” is used here in place of the more common “gallery” to incorporate the linguistic dimension of the visual arts.

The documents section has been cleaned up and redesigned. It is now organized into three areas — Art Books, Art Magazines, and Artdig Matters — each accessible via dedicated buttons.

Reviews and Publications — This section has been updated to reflect the current body of work and the state of the website’s content.

January of the new year began with several politically critical works, but the focus is currently on compiling and publishing another illustrated book and a multi-volume collection of art reviews. The first volume with 50 reviews is already available on the English-language website, the second volume is in progress, and translations into German are pending.

These projects are scheduled to be completed by March 1 at the latest.

Since its initial launch in 2023, the website has completed its third transformation, featuring both technical and content updates.

Technical Updates

The automated German translation feature, which was only set up in mid-October, has been discontinued to maintain independence from third-party services. Translation management has returned to Arslohgo’s direct control. German-speaking readers can now access the German version of the website directly at https://artdig-de.lohgo.net.

Content Updates

Revisions: The two previously published art books, which were temporarily removed from the documents section for revision, are now back online.

Artdigazine Issue 1: The Artdig Magazine announced for November 15th has been released and is available in the documents section under its designated category.

Reviews: The AI-generated reviews section has expanded beyond individual artwork reviews to now include reviews of art books, magazine(s), other documents, and the website itself, all accessible in the documents section.

Portfolio: The portfolio has been expanded with new works as well as older pieces not previously included. Since portfolio content is sorted in reverse chronological order—with newest works appearing first and oldest at the end—recently added older works can be found in the middle of the list.

Viewing Note for Magazine and Art Books: The magazine and art books are formatted as double-page print layouts (Artdigazine in A3 format, art books in A4 format). For larger screens, we recommend setting your PDF viewer to two-page display with a separate cover page to see facing pages as intended, since some artwork presentations span across spreads.

Each work published on “artdig worx” now includes a critical essay provided by the AI software Claude AI. These critiques are available in both English and German language, regardless of the website’s language setting.

The critiques can be accessed via a link on the page with the work’s brief description and will open in a separate browser tab.

Since art criticism employs highly specialized language, there’s an additional menu item in the left sidebar where you can look up art criticism terminology. In order to open this glossary in a separate browser tab right-click the menu item and select “open in new tab” from the context menu.

The first issue of the Artdig magazine will be published on November 15, replacing the previous “Miscellaneous texts”. The magazine has a layout based on the style of an architecture publication in DIN A3 format and similar to my works, I also see this magazine as a project.

The magazine deals with various works that are significant to me for different reasons, and the overarching thematic focus of this issue is on the art of reuse. Under the heading “the illusion of ground zero,” the Western cultural fiction of the unique creation of the unprecedented, of true originality from nothing —derived from “Creatio Ex Nihilo,” traditionally reserved for divine action, which we have secularized and applied to human creativity—I talk about the reuse and modification of motifs in art. This can be understood as a counter-concept to the essentially self-deconstructing fiction or fantasy that ultimately only serves economic success in the art market.

The October update to the website mainly includes the provision of automated translation into German and a simple filter…

The October update to the website mainly includes the provision of automated translation into German and a simple filter function based on predefined categories. In addition, several new and older works that had not yet been included have been added to the portfolio.

Note on the translation function

Automatic translations already work very well for the most part. Nevertheless, translation inconsistencies do occur, especially with certain types of text. I endeavor to correct such inconsistencies as quickly as possible, but delays cannot always be ruled out.

Note on the filter function

The filter can be used to limit the number of works displayed in the portfolio. This is a “temporary” filter—if an image is called up from the filtered display, the filter is no longer available afterwards.

If you want to keep the filtered display because you want to call up several works from it, it is advisable to open the desired works in a separate tab. You can do this by right-clicking on the image and then selecting “Open link in new tab” from the context menu.

The November update affects the document area. All documents are currently being revised and are therefore temporarily unavailable. They are scheduled to be available again in their new form from November 15.

To make things easier for German speaking readers, for whom English requires greater effort, a translation option is now offered…

The automated translation was reversed in favor of an independent German-language version (see Journal, November update).

“weglot” is a software component that automatically translates the website’s texts into German. This makes it easier for German-speaking visitors who are not very familiar with English to understand the descriptions, journal texts, and documents.

Two language selection options have been added to the menu items in the sidebar on the left, allowing users to switch between the lingua franca and the German translation.

Weglot uses machine translation and combines various translation APIs such as Google Translate, DeepL, etc. The translation results are quite close to the original content, but nevertheless, some reworking is inevitable.

It was time for a change after the decision was made to run the website exclusively as a digital art site. So renaming and relocation …

Unlike with most of my pictures, finding a suitable website that I like seems to be quite a lengthy process with several intermediate stages. I am by no means concerned with a website concept involving things like target group analysis, content strategy, structured workflow, or the like. This is a private website with no commercial interests, and it should remain that way. I am simply looking for a form that really appeals to me visually and functionally. So you can be sure that more “facelifts” will follow…

LIMITING CONTENT TO MINI POSTERS

From a scientific perspective, creativity is your ability to think of something original from connections made between pre-existing ideas in your brain. These connections are controlled by neurotransmitters like adenosine, which alerts your brain when you’re running out of energy and reacts.

FROM «ARS.LOHGO.MET» TO «ARTDIG.LOHGO.NET»

In this context, it was only logical to adapt the original generic domain name and thus the domain itself (the Internet address) accordingly. The address is now “artdig.lohgo.net” (artes digitales/art digital) and the name of the website is “ArtDig Worx.”

PROJECTS, NO GALLERIES

In addition, the presentation structure has changed. Works and their descriptions are now organized into projects in a portfolio. Extra galleries aren’t necessary anymore, .

SOME TECHNICAL NOTE

The web versions of the images have been converted to 8-bit 100 dpi CMYK format and compressed using Afiv in order to reduce their size and improve performance. The original images are available in 16-bit 300 dpi CMYK format.

No social network links, no likes, therefore no “hates”,no comments, – the site can remain “unmolested,” whatever one may think…

ARSLohgo – the person behind ArtDig WorX visualizes language or verbalizes images and exhibits them on this website. This is a non-commercial, private project website that presents artificial entities.

The website redesign, the restriction to exclusively digitally created mini-posters, and the necessary restructuring of the user interface to focus on the ‘essentials’ were further steps in the presentation process. The website’s structure is anything but uniform. This is intentional, as the website is meant to be a ‘playground’ for browsing rather than a place for targeted searches.

Navigating, i. e. poking around

The portfolio displays all works (each one a project in itself). When loading for the first time, it may take a little while for all works to be displayed—once cached, the “waiting time” is no longer an issue. Here, the display can be filtered according to different categories (for example, to reduce the scope of the works to bedisplayed).

Moving the mouse pointer over one of the images displays the name and a brief description of the work. A left mouse click on an image opens the corresponding portfolio page with a large version of the image and its description.

Left-clicking on the image provides a full-screen view of the image. Use “Alt” + “Left Arrow” on the keyboard or the browser’s “Left Arrow” icon to close the image display.

Within the portfolio, you can scroll back and forth and display all images again. Below the image, the “Previous,” “All Projects,” and “Next” links allow you to navigate. These three links are not always located directly below the image. Depending on the length of the description text, there may be a gap between the image and the navigation links.

Note: If you have accessed a specific portfolio page via an image filter, this filter will no longer be active when navigating from the portfolio page. You can scroll forwards and backwards through the entire image collection. If you want filtered images to remain available, you should open images for viewing in a separate tab (right-click on the image and select ‘Open link in a new tab’ from the context menu). If you want to view the description of another filtered image, switch back to the tab with the filtered images and open the desired image in another tab.

Pure Image Libraries: This subsection of the portfolio organizes the complete body of work by category, allowing you to browse pure image libraries without any accompanying text. Clicking this submenu item opens a page displaying the available image categories. Once you select a category, the corresponding library appears. Clicking on any work selects it and displays it in an enlarged view. Clicking the enlarged work again advances to the next piece in that category.

You can skip forward and back using the selection indicator (for example: < 4/17 >) shown to the lower right of the selected work. The currently displayed work closes when you click anywhere outside of it.
