“SEAshell” refers to both the shell’s exoskeleton and the seawater shell itself. More than that, the term “shell” conjures up an image of a gas station rising from the sea at night under a full moon—an image that is not necessarily associated with our environment in a positive way.

The background is a combination of a true and a slightly modified, freely available photograph, and the work is part of the ‘Playing around with Callantsoog skies and waters’ series. The combsined SKY and SEA series explores the theme of “SKY” and “SEA” on three levels: visual, written, and sound.
