At least in Germany, November conjures images of bare trees, damp cold weather, and gray days—a season of transition, chill, and farewell. Yet November also reveals stunningly beautiful, luminous morning skies. “Late November” is another work in the “Playing around with skies” series, another view from the kitchen window.

The splendor of the sky (the photo was taken on November 27) makes us pause in wonder, suddenly aware of where we are in time: late November. And with this awareness, other images come flooding in—”Late November,” a song by Pavlov’s Dog about a mysterious woman who appears like a bolt of lightning, vanishes just as suddenly, and leaves a lasting impression.
